SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane firetruck responding to a morning alarm was involved in an accident when it lost traction while descending a hill in Northwest Spokane, according to the Spokane Fire Department (SFD).
At 9:14 a.m., Truck 13 slid into a home on North Greenwood Blvd. near Browne Elementary after losing control at the intersection of West Rowan Avenue and West Fleming Place.
According to SFD the home was occupied at the time, but no injuries were reported. All firefighters on Truck 13 were unharmed.
A city engineer inspected the home and found no major structural damage, allowing the residence to remain safe for occupancy. However, Truck 13 sustained extensive damage and will remain out of service until repairs are completed.
According to SFD, Fire Engine 16 was dispatched to respond to the original alarm. While descending the same hill, Engine 16 also lost control and slid into two unoccupied vehicles.
SFD said the vehicles sustained moderate damage, but no injuries occurred. Engine 16 is expected to return to service later today.
The City of Spokane Police Department is assisting with the investigation. The Spokane Fire Department expressed relief that no injuries occurred despite the accidents.
