COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Dozens of dogs affected by the recent California wildfires will soon be available for adoption in Coeur d’Alene.
On Sunday, January 26, hundreds of dogs were evacuated from Los Angeles and flown to Coeur d’Alene, Seattle and Missoula for a chance to find their forever homes.
LA-based shelter and nonprofit, Paws For Life K9 Rescue, teamed up with the organization, Wings of Rescue, to facilitate the flight out of LA on Sunday.
The 107 dogs on the flight were previously living in the Paws For Life People and Pet Innovation Center in the Mission Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The goal of relocating the dogs is to free up space in the Mission Hills shelter for dogs who have been displaced or separated from their owners during the wildfires.
Since the wildfires began, Paws For Life has taken in more than 250 dogs affected by the fires.
The dogs being relocated to CDA will be taken in by Companions Animal Shelter. Dogs in Seattle will go to Seattle Humane and dogs in Missoula will go to Humane Society of Western Montana.
For more information and to adopt, reach out to one of the shelters listed above or Paws For Life at 310-738-0842.
