PULLMAN, Wash. — A man arrested for murdering his wife was convicted in Whitman County on Thursday.
According to Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office, Jacob Spray was convicted of first-degree murder and rape of his wife, Jamie Wilson Spray.
On March 26, 2024, police conducted a welfare check at a mobile home in Pullman after a caller told 9-1-1 she was on the phone with Wilson Spray when she heard a scream and the call ended.
According to court documents, when police arrived, they found Wilson Spray dead inside the trailer with scratches and bruising on her neck.
During the investigation, Jacob Spray’s father told police he had confessed to murdering his wife on the phone.
Police soon arrested Jacob Spray for second-degree murder.
Spray’s conviction came after a four-hour jury deliberation. Wilson Spray’s family was in the courtroom when it was delivered.
Chief Deputy Prosecutor, Dan LeBeau, said he will argue for the maximum penalty allowed.
Spray faces up to 26-and-a-half years in prison.
A Whitman County Judge will set his sentence during a hearing on March 24.
