COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A teenager was arrested Wednesday for robbing a Coeur d’Alene gas station on Christmas Day.
According to the Coeur d’Alene Police Department, the 17-year-old entered the Exxon Gas Station on West Appleway Avenue at around 8:30 p.m. on Christmas Day. Police say he pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register. The teen fled on foot and police could not find him when they arrived.
During an investigation of the robbery, police say surveillance video showed the same teen trying to break into Safeway on West Neider Avenue earlier that day. Investigators recognized the teen from previous incidents.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the teen was found and arrested. Police say he admitted to the robbery during a police interview.
The suspect was booked into the Kootenai County Juvenile Detention Center for robbery and attempted burglary.
