SPOKANE, Wash. – No. 18 Gonzaga entered tonight winners of the last 18 games against the San Diego Toreros, and perfect at home versus USD since 2000.
Despite a closer game than their usual meetings, this one was never in doubt.
The Bulldogs won through Ben Gregg’s heroics in a new starting role, scoring 23 points on 9-12 shooting. Gregg started and earned 35 minutes (a team high) with normal starter Michael Ajayi out with an illness.
Head coach Mark Few did not confirm whether he or Jun Seok Yeo will be healthy by the Zags’ next game.
Graham Ike led the way on the board with a remarkable 19, and Ryan Nembhard, per usual, finished first in assists with 11.
Gonzaga stays at home for their next game, hosting the Washington State Cougars this Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
