AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — The woman arrested for having eight pipe bombs told law enforcement she had notes about making bombs for a novel she was writing.
According to court documents, law enforcement went to the home of 54-year-old Angela Andreas-Miller to serve a search warrant for identity theft. Police say Andreas-Miller has a history of mental illness, drugs, and crime. This includes six prior felony convictions for money laundering, retail theft, possession of a forged check and pergery.
The affidavit says police went into her apartment and secured her.
During a search, officers located a 1.5-2 ft. long pipe bomb with fuses coming out. Law enforcement evacuated the building.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad responded and determined the bomb was combustible and had screws inside making it for anti-personnel.
In her bedroom, law enforcement located notes about bomb-making.
When law enforcement searched Andreas-Miller’s vehicle, seven similar bombs were located.
While being interviewed, Andreas-Miller told police the bombs weren’t hers. She said one of the men she lived with had brought it home and likely put the bomb in her room.
Andreas-Miller also said no one had access to her bedroom because she keeps it locked to keep her methamphetamine away from her grandkids.
When asked about the notes, Andreas-Miller told police she was writing a novel about a U.S. Marshal, and she was looking up how to make fireworks for research.
“I didn’t think she would be building a bunch of bombs. I mean, she was a little weird, but she told me she was working on a children’s book,” said Josh Barker, one of Andreas-Miller’s neighbors. “She had her secrets that she didn’t share.”
Andreas-Miller was arrested for eight counts of possession of incendiary devices. She made her first court appearance Friday and is being held on $500,000 bond.
