SPOKANE, Wash. — Mocktails have been available at Revival Tea Company since it opened and have gained popularity in recent years, especially in January, as more people become “sober curious.”
“We really introduce a whole new world to people,” said Nalina McShane, district manager.
While drinks like Old Fashioneds, Cosmos, and Moscow Mules at Revival contain no alcohol, they still offer the same flavors.
“We offer lemonades and tea sodas, which are like Italian sodas but with tea. We have a variety of options that taste like alcohol but without the alcohol content and the buzz. It’s a great experience, and many people are looking for non-alcoholic options these days,” said McShane.
As alcohol consumption has risen, so has the trend of participating in Dry January, which experts say has both physical and mental health benefits.
“Alcohol is a potent drug with significant downsides to health if used excessively,” said Dr. Dan Getz, chief medical officer at Providence. “People need to be educated about what they’re exposed to.”
