SPOKANE, Wash. — With each passing holiday, holiday travel breaks more and more records with the American Automobile Association projecting 3 million more people traveling this holiday season compared to 2023.
If you’re heading to Spokane International Airport, there’s plenty of methods to help maintain your sanity while navigating long lines and other travel stresses.
For some at the airport, mindfulness is key.
One man, Colin Alexander, is visiting the Inland Northwest from Denver, Colorado and says taking a moment to stay calm is the goal.
“Just breathing and trying to disassociate from the chaos [is key],” said Alexander.
Through Alexander said another tried and true method also helps, “When I landed, I got a whiskey Coke just to ease the nerves a little bit.”
Alexander also notes the how your attitude and vibes can be contagious so trying to stay positive is important.
For another woman, Lovea Shampine who fled in from Fairbanks, Alaska, blocking out the noise and being comfortable are her chosen methods.
“Noise canceling headphones. I have a little blanket, I have that,” said Shampine. “I always keep socks for the plane so that I can be comfortable without stinking anybody out.”
Experts says packing your patience is important. Give yourself plenty of time to get navigate a busy airport.
The CDC recommends getting some exercise and eating healthy are important before any long flight or car ride. So, consider going on a walk or grabbing some good food before hitting the roads or skies.
