SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — UPDATE, December 21, 8:26 p.m.
Liberty Lake Police shot a man suspected of intentionally hitting vehicles with his own in the Otis Orchards area Saturday afternoon.
According to police, calls came in just after 1 p.m. in the area of North Malvern Road and East Wellesley Avenue.
Officers said on top of hitting other vehicles with his own, the suspect also got out of his vehicle and began throwing rocks and hitting vehicles with other objects.
Police said when officers arrived, the suspect was still in the area and when they tried to contact him, “an altercation ensued.”
The suspect was shot by an officer during the altercation and taken to a local hospital.
The incident is under investigation by the Spokane Independent Investigative Response Team.

East Kildea Road is currently blocked off in Otis Orchard due to police activity in the area.
The closure began Saturday afternoon at Kildea and Glenarvon Road. There is currently no timeline for when the road will be reopened.
