LEWISTON, Idaho — One person was injured from a house fire on 16th Street in Lewiston Saturday afternoon.
According to the Lewiston Fire Department, the fire started on the back porch of the home just before 3:15 p.m.
The male resident of the home was able to get his mother and pets to safety before going back to try and put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.
Fire officials say the man was not able to put out the fire by himself and had second-degree burns on his arms from the attempt.
The fire rapidly spread into the main part of the home, the attic and a nearby motorhome. Firefighter worked to put out the fire which proved more difficult because of the steep metal roof and multiple ceiling layers.
Fire crews were on scene for around two hours working to put out the fire.
The burn victim declined medical attention.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
