CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington University says employee data dating back to 1997 has been compromised in a breach.
According to the university, EWU learned an unauthorized individual had access to records containing sensitive information about employees.
Eastern says the information may have included Social Security numbers, home addresses, phone numbers, and dates of birth.
EWU says it learned of the breach on December 2 impacting student employees and temporary employees.
EWU is now partnering with IDX to offer identity theft protection services. Those impacted can reach out to riskmanager@ewu.edu or call 509-359-6618 before December 31 to enroll.
Impacted individuals can also take steps to protect themselves including placing a fraud alert or freeze with Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. You can also monitor credit activity and report fraud to IdentityTheft.gov.
