SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane City Council approved Mayor Brown’s proposed 2025-2026 budget on Monday.
“Today marks a pivotal moment for the City of Spokane as we take a step toward a stronger, more resilient future. Through hard work, dedication and a shared commitment at every level of the City team, we have passed a balanced, two-year budget that puts us on track to close our $50 million deficit,” said Mayor Lisa Brown.
The budget applies what the city called “efficiencies and cost-savings” measures including, cabinet furlough days, 10% budget reduction exercises, voluntary retirement incentives for Spokane Police Guild and a delay of cost-of-living increases. It also includes a slight reduction in the city’s workforce.
The total budget accounts for $2.5 billion and is balanced for both 2025 and 2026.
“This budget is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together and focus on the greater good of our community,” said Mayor Brown.
