SPOKANE, Wash. — A man accused of making threats to City Hall in November was charged with escaping court after being ordered not to leave.
The charge of 2nd degree escape was added December 6, 2024. Chesed Johnson was arrested November 13, 2024, for stalking and intimidating a public servant.
Johnson was being held on a $50,000 bond for escape after making a first appearance before Commissioner Eugene Cruz Monday. He was being held on no bond for his previous outstanding charges.
During the first appearance hearing for the escape charge, Commissioner Cruz noted Johnson’s failure to appear and failure to comply history with the Spokane Co. court system.
State prosecutors requested local law enforcement be allowed to make a statement regarding Johnson and bail release conditions. Commissioner Cruz declined the request, based on the degree of the latest charge.
Johnson was scheduled to return to court for arraignment December 17, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Tim Fennessy.
