SPOKANE, Wash – There’s only one game between ranked teams in the opening night of the men’s college basketball season, and it’s happening in the heart of Spokane!
Gonzaga, ranked 6th in the pre-season poll, hosts 8th-ranked Baylor at the Spokane Arena.
It’s a rematch of the 2021 national championship game, in which Baylor beat the Zags 86-70.
The game Monday night is the biggest of the first day of the college basketball season.
Tipoff is at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
Gonzaga finished 27-8 last season and ended the season with a loss to Purdue in the Sweet 16.
Baylor’s season ended in the second round with a loss to Clemson.
Gonzaga returns 81.4% of its minutes from last year and also welcomes in transfers that include Khalif Battle from Arkansas and Michael Ajayi from Pepperdine.
Baylor is replacing four of its five starters from last season.
