SPOKANE, Wash. — A jury has convicted a Spokane County man of murder who said his wife killed herself.
In January of 2022, Dean Ayers called law enforcement and reported his wife had shot herself in the head. She was taken to the hospital where she later died.
As detectives investigated, they noticed inconsistencies with Ayers’ story of what happened. A few days later he was arrested for murder.
Ayers was convicted of second-degree murder Thursday afternoon and will be sentenced November 20.
