COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Forget what you’ve heard about newcomers to Idaho turning the state more blue. Voter registration data shows Idaho has become more conservative since the last presidential election.
According to the Idaho Secretary of State’s Office, Idaho has seen a nearly 6% increase in registered voters since 2020. There are 18% more registered Republicans and 4% fewer Democrats.
Kootenai County has seen an even bigger shift to the right since 2020.
According to the data so far, Kootenai County has seen a 10.6% increase in registered voters. Specifically, Kootenai County has 14,569 more Republican voters than it did in 2020, marking a 25% increase.
Kootenai County has seen an 11.5% drop in registered Democrat voters in that four years.
These numbers will change in the coming weeks. Idaho residents can register to vote in person all the way up until Election Day.
