SPOKANE, Wash. — People experiencing homelessness will have access to more resources as the City of Spokane works to move to a new shelter model while tackling the homelessness crisis.
The city announced Friday it’s launched a navigation center at the Cannon Street homeless shelter. This center will be able to connect people with immediate shelter but also mental health care, addiction treatment, and housing placement services.
In this endeavor, Spokane is teaming up with Empire Health Foundation and Revive Counseling Spokane to continue on from the pilot version of this program.
According to the city, the program has served 39 people so far.
“The successful pilot navigation center has shown the power of providing stable support and resources to those in need. Now, as we move towards making it more permanent, we are not just investing in a program, but in the promise of dignity and stability for our community’s most vulnerable,” Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown said.
