GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — Deputies began a search on Sunday for a man who went missing while fishing over the weekend, according to Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
52-year-old Richard Smith of Moses Lake left his home on the morning of October 3 to go fishing in the O’Sullivan Reservoir in Grant County.
GCSO said his truck was found at “Medicare Beach” at the end of the Fish and Wildlife access road on the north side of the reservoir.
Smith was carrying his 12-foot, flat-bottom aluminum boat and a kayak in his truck.
The kayak was found with his truck, but the aluminum boat was missing.
GCSO found a single set of boat drag marks from the truck down into the water.
Smith’s girlfriend said he told her he was going to go fishing where the water comes in and out of the reservoir.
Smith is 5′ 9″ tall and 180 lbs with hazel eyes. He is bald with a white goatee and was last seen wearing black or dark blue Adidas running pants.
Deputies said his phone appears to be dead.
Anyone with information about Smith’s whereabouts should call GCSO at 509-762-1160.
