SPOKANE, Wash.– Air quality in North Idaho’s Silver Valley turned Hazardous on Sunday evening as blanket of dust from Eastern Washington tracked eastwards. Numerous dust storm warnings were issued on Sunday by the National Weather Service as high winds swept through the region.
Dust will continue to blow through North Idaho for the next several hours. Exposure to dust is not as dangerous as wildfire smoke because the particles are larger and less likely to enter your lungs. However, hazardous air quality of any kind can have a serious effect on your health.
When air quality is hazardous, experts strongly recommend avoiding any outdoor activity and to seal off your home from outside air as much as possible.
