SPOKANE, Wash. — A 4 News Now viewer requested an update to the months-long construction project that has plagued Bigelow Gulch Rd. since the spring.
According to Spokane County’s communications manager Martha Lou Wheatley-Billeter, the Bigelow Gulch Rd. construction project is ahead of schedule.
Officials plan to reopen Bigelow Gulch Rd. by October 15.
However, due to supply chain issues the guardrails will arrive late, said the project manager.
The planned ribbon cutting ceremony has been postponed.
Over the summer, construction crews blasted rock to allow for drainage; surfaced the road using a cement base, with crushed rock surface and hot mix asphalt, and installed new lights, guardrails, signage and striping.
The project has cost nearly $82 million.
