SPOKANE, Wash. — Extra, extra! The Spokane Children’s Theater will open their 78th season with the Tony Award-winning musical, Newsies, next month.
On weekends from October 11 through October 28, Spokane Children’s Theater will present their latest production, Newsies, featuring actors from around our area, ranging in age from 9 – 55-years-old.
Newsies is set in 1899 New York and follows a group of newspaper kids who strike against the city’s unfair newspaper publishers.
14 cast members will make their SCT stage debut during the show.
The show’s director, Natalie Lemley, said the cast has been hard at work preparing to present the show to the community.
“I love directing at SCT because of the people there. The support and kindness that is show, we all have a common goal of making theater an enjoyment for the cast and community. I love seeing people use their talents and develop. How people work together to create something beautiful to share with the community. Nothing brings me more joy than to see someone push themself and develop confidence in themselves,” said Lemley.
The show is rated PG for some language, fight scenes and references to alcohol and smoking.
Tickets are $18 for adults, $17 for military, seniors and students and $12 for children.
