WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash. — A man died in a motorcycle crash in Colfax, Washington on Friday, according to Whitman County Sheriff’s Office.
WCSO deputies and emergency crews responded to a reported motorcycle crash on Wawawai Road near Nisqually John Landing around 1:30 p.m. on August 20.
After arriving, first responders declared the motorcyclist, 67-year-old Michael Auvil of Garfield, Washington, dead at the scene.
WCSO said Auvil was traveling eastbound when he failed to turn the curve near a railroad crossing.
His motorcycle went off the road and crashed into a guardrail.
As of September 22, the cause of the crash is still being investigated but drugs and alcohol are not suspected at this time.
This is one of several motorcycle crashes that have been reported around the Inland Northwest in the last few days.

Washington State Patrol said as the weather gets cooler, many riders are trying to get their final rides of the season in.
WSP said motorcyclists and other drivers should watch their speed and pay attention to their surroundings to keep the roads safe for everyone.
