PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State improves to 4-0 following the 54-52 win over San Jose State in double overtime.
WSU’s defense stopped the Spartans on a two-point conversion attempt to seal the victory.
This comes after SJSU quarterback Emmett Brown connected with wide receiver Nick Nash for a four-yard touchdown to make it a two-point game.
After both teams failed to score in the first overtime, a Dylan Paine touchdown run and a John Mateer rush for the two-point conversion gave the Cougars the 54-46 lead
Dean Janikowski tied the game at 46 with a 52-yard field goal as time expired in fourth quarter.
Mateer finished 26-46 throwing for 390 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for 111 yards and a touchdown.
The Cougars now hit the road to take on Boise State at 7 p.m. next Saturday.
