PULLMAN, Wash – If you thought a mid-September Apple Cup felt strange, wait until next year.
Washington State University announced the 2027 Apple Cup will be played on August 28th, the first game of the season for both the Cougars and the Huskies.
The rivalry game was originally scheduled for September 18th in Pullman, but WSU says both teams agreed to move the game to the opening weekend.
The game will be played at the end of the first week of classes.
This gives WSU a bye week the week of September 18th.
It’s the second to last scheduled Apple Cup for the rivalry now that the teams play in different conferences. The 2028 game will be held at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
The teams have played 118 times, with the first meeting in 1900.
