SPOKANE, Wash. — City officials gathered with residents in the Emerson Garfield neighborhood Tuesday evening to discuss Spokane’s long-term growth strategy, inviting community members to shape the city’s future development.
The meeting centered on “PlanSpokane 2046,” an initiative designed to chart the city’s course for the next 20 years. According to city officials, the plan will identify policies and future regulations to help guide the next 20 years of our city.
Residents had the chance to meet with members of the city’s Department of Planning Services, ask questions about the proposed direction, and share their vision for Spokane’s future. The input gathered at the meeting will help inform the policies and regulations that shape how the city grows and develops.
Hunter DePriest, chair of the Emerson Garfield Neighborhood Council, emphasized the importance of community participation in the planning process. “It’s really important to me because I love the city of Spokane, I love the way that it looks right now. I wanna make sure that we get to keep many of the things that make it great into the future,” DePriest said.
The city remains open to public feedback on the potential plan. Residents interested in sharing their thoughts can submit comments through the city’s website and can find a map of proposed changes here.
