SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Velocity are back in the win column.
Spokane held on for a 2-1 victory over the Greenville Triumph Saturday night at ONE Spokane Stadium, earning its 10th home win of the season — tied for the most in USL League One.
The Velocity broke through twice in the first half. Greenville defender Zane Bubb accidentally put the ball into his own net in the 27th minute after Jack Denton sent a cross into the box.
Three minutes later, Spokane doubled its lead when Lucky Opara finished off a corner kick from Derek Waldeck. It was Opara’s first goal of the season and Waldeck’s first assist.
Greenville cut the deficit early in the second half when Anthony Patti curled a shot into the net following a corner kick.
The Triumph nearly found the equalizer in stoppage time, but the Velocity managed to hold strong.
The win moves Spokane to another strong home mark as the Velocity continue their push near the top of the League One standings.
