BOUNDARY COUNTY, Idaho — Authorities are warning residents in the North Bench area of Boundary County after a grizzly bear was reported raiding chicken coops and killing poultry near mile marker 513, about 10 miles north of Bonners Ferry, according to the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office.
The incidents have occurred north of Bonners Ferry in the vicinity of Juneberry Lane and Holmes Road, prompting Idaho Fish and Game to issue guidance for property owners in the region.
Residents living in the affected area are being advised to take immediate steps to protect their livestock and eliminate potential food sources that could attract bears to their properties.
Officials recommend cleaning up any attractants and implementing bear-resistant measures around homes and outbuildings.
The warning comes as grizzly bear activity continues to be monitored throughout the region.
