SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A Spokane Valley six-year-old has made a special connection with a memorial sign for his neighbor, despite never meeting him.
Six-year-old Grayson was neighbors with Carter Cochran, a 17-year-old Lewis and Clark student who was shot and killed in Spokane Valley in April of this year.
Grayson’s mother posted a video on social media of her son frequently requesting to visit Carter’s sign on their evening walks, saying her son misses him, and constantly asks where he is.
The post has received thousands of likes and supportive comments. It even created a special connection between Grayson and Carter’s grandmother.
According to Grayson’s mom, Carter’s grandmother has been communicating with her and says she’s moved that her grandson is still making a difference in the community.
Carter’s grandmother says Carter loved playing with kids and is proud her son is still making a difference in the community.
“He was loved and somehow Grayson connected with his spirit,” said Kimberly Carroll, Carter’s grandmother.
