SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with a residential arson that occurred on June 9 near the intersection of East Sanson Avenue and North Standard Street, according to the Spokane Police Department.
Romello D. Abram was arrested on July 7 by the Spokane Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit with assistance from the Air Support Unit and K9 unit.
The fire originated at approximately 6:30 a.m. Multiple occupants, including Abram’s child, evacuated through a window and avoided injury. The fire spread to an attached garage on the adjacent property before Spokane Fire Department personnel suppressed the blaze.
Fire Investigators determined the fire had been deliberately set. During their investigation, officers discovered that one resident maintained protected status under a Domestic Violence Order of Protection. Abram was identified as the respondent on this order, which legally prohibited him from remaining within 1,000 feet of the location. Video surveillance evidence corroborated his involvement in the arson, according to police.
Abram faces charges including First Degree Arson-DV, First Degree Arson-Damage Dwelling, Order Violation, and Harassment-DV, according to the Spokane Police Department.
