COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Hunters looking for bears in the Coeur d’Alene National Forest instead found a woman’s body Sunday evening.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office says the hunters found the woman in the Marie Creek area. They had to remove several trees to get their vehicles to the remote scene.
The sheriff’s office said the woman appeared to have been dead there for an extended period of time. They found a passport nearby, indicating the woman might be a 69-year-old from New York.
Investigators do not expect foul play an are working to notify her family.
