MESA, Arizona – For the first time since 2010, the Washington State University baseball team is heading back to the NCAA tournament.
The Cougs had to beat San Diego State three times in two days to do it, but ended the tournament with a mercy-rule win in the title game.
WSU scored seven runs in the seventh inning, ending the game by ten-run rule 14-4.
This is WSU’s first conference title since 1995. The Cougars are playing in the MWC until next season when the Pac-12 expands.
The Cougs will play in the Eugene bracket which includes Oregon, Oregon State and Yale. They’ll take on OSU to begin on Friday at noon. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
