SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga Bulldogs (34-17) beat the Seattle U Redhawks (18-30), 5-1 today through excellent pitching and clutch offense.
Starting pitcher Karsten Sweum threw for the first time since a no-hitter last week in San Francisco, and he delivered again with 6.0 IP, three hits, zero runs, one walk, and nine strikeouts.
The Zags scored five runs on seven hits, including four doubles. Gonzaga’s five through nine hitters batted 6-16.
Gonzaga set the all-time program record WCC wins mark with 21. The Zags already earned the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament in addition to the regular-season conference title.
Game 3 of the weekend series begins tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. to celebrate Senior Day.
