POKANE, Wash. — A repeat offender who fired a gun into a North Spokane bar after being refused service was sentenced to 22 months in prison.
Gibson Riklon, 32, pleaded guilty May 11 to second-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. Judge Michelle Szambelan also ordered him to serve 18 months of community custody.
The charges stem from a February 2025 incident at a North Spokane pub where a bartender noticed Riklon was carrying a gun. The bartender told Riklon he would no longer be served and asked him to put the weapon in his car.
Riklon left but returned minutes later, opened the pub door and fired two shots toward the employee. The bartender was not injured. Riklon then drove away.
Police located Riklon’s vehicle, but he fled from deputies. Officers later found his abandoned vehicle and used a K9 unit to track him down, discovering him hiding under a truck.
Prosecutors presented Riklon’s criminal history, which includes prior assault and firearm convictions. This makes his current conviction a second strike under Washington’s Three Strikes Law, which can result in life imprisonment for three or more serious felony convictions.
Judge Szambelan prohibited Riklon from contacting the employee or entering the pub for 10 years.
