SPOKANE, Wash. – The newest Gonzaga commit follows in previous footsteps, arriving from overseas.
Izan Almansa committed to the Bulldogs today, filling a big man depth need after the departure of Graham Ike and Ismaila Diagne.
Almansa looks to play alongside returner Braden Huff and newcomer Massamba Diop, the pair likely to start over the Spanish-born forward.
Almansa previously played for the Philadelphia 76ers’ G League developmental team, and he attended the 2025 NBA Draft green room but was not selected. He comes off playing consecutive pro seasons overseas, including most recently for Real Madrid in Spain.
The 6’10 20-year-old still needs to earn NCAA eligibility to play this season, and he’ll need to finalize any eligibility issues before being officially a 2026-27 Zag.
