SPOKANE, Wash – SWAT officers and multiple sheriff’s deputies have blocked off streets as they try to arrest a wanted person near Moran Prairie Elementary School.
Officers can be heard on a loudspeaker, trying to get the person to come out of the house.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office tells 4 News Now deputies were helping Department of Corrections with a warrant and the incident went from a three-block area to a larger perimeter.
The man arrested in that case, Jeremy Bausch, had a hearing scheduled for Wednesday this week. His case is being handled as a mental health sentencing alternative case.
Deputies have not confirmed who the warrant is for, but have called out the name Jeremy on the scene several times.
Moran Prairie Elementary School students are in a secure and teach situation, which means students are not coming and going from the school.
Students are scheduled to be released from school at 3 pm.
SPS says the kids will remain in secure and teach and only dismiss students to a parent or guardian. Kids who walk and bike to school will remain inside and not walk home until law enforcement says it’s safe to do so.
