COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — After almost three decades of service, the Coeur d’Alene Fire Chief announced he is retiring.
Fire Chief Tom Greig has been serving the community for nearly 29 years. The City of Coeur d’Alene announced his plans to retire on April 16.
Coeur d’Alene Mayor Dan Gookin said “throughout his career, Chief Greif has exemplified exceptional leadership, commitment, and professionalism, leaving a lasting and meaningful impact on the Fire Department and the community he has faithfully served. We extend our sincere gratitude and congratulations to Chief Greif as he enters retirement.”
Starting April 17, Deputy Fire Chief Bill Deruyter will take on the role of Interim Fire Chief until the new Chief begins.
Jon Fugitt has accepted the position as the next Fire Chief and is expected to begin in early to mid-May.
