SPOKANE, Wash. – The 2026 Minor League Baseball season has at last arrived.
The Spokane Indians return to the diamond today to take on the Everett AquaSox in a three-game home series at Avista Stadium, jumpstarting the 2026 season.
“They’re ready to go compete,” new manager Tom Sutaris said. “See, I kinda get excited watching, my teeth hurt because I was smiling watching. It was fun to see that energy.”
The Indians welcome six new Colorado Rockies top 30 prospects, including No. 8 prospect pitcher Brody Brecht as the highest-ranked one.
“Just super blessed and thankful for the opportunity,” Brecht said. “Man, this feels good.”
Brecht spoke about the new prospects arriving, many from the Low-A Fresno Grizzlies, and how the team remains complete and competitive across the board.
“Everybody’s made it here, right?” Brecht said. “We’re all really good players, if you’re a prospect or not, everybody can play. I think we got a good group of guys and we’ll have a good year.”
Spokane’s likely best position will be at starting pitcher, including Yujanyer Herrera, who takes the mound tonight after missing all of 2025 with Tommy John surgery.
“I definitely like our starting pitching,” Sutaris said. “I think we’re going to be very good defensively, which I think bodes well when you have really good starting pitching. We got to be really consistent how we play.”
Spokane’s first pitch against Everett comes tonight at 6:35 p.m. at Avista Stadium.
