The Indians won 4-1 behind consecutive-pitch home runs, the first by Kevin Fritzer and the second by Max Belyeu.
Spokane gets revenge for a 4-3 Opening Day loss to Everett last season, and it’s the first time in four years that Spokane beat Everett in their first meeting of the season.
Bryson Hammer had the best pitching performance, tossing three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, and throwing three strikeouts.
Spokane returns for Game 2 of the three-game series tomorrow at 5:09 p.m.
