SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Construction on South Barker Road in Spokane Valley is leading to some road closures that began Monday.
According to the City of Spokane Valley, construction began on South Barker Road from Sprague Avenue to Appleway Avenue on Monday and is expected to run through June.
Barker Road will be fully closed during construction, with traffic detouring around the project site.
The project is part of the larger South Barker Road Corridor project, which will widen Barker Road to a three-lane road between Sprague Avenue and Appleway Avenue.
City officials say the project will also add bike lanes and sideways and provide stormwater improvements.
