NORMAN, Okla. — The Idaho Vandals women’s basketball saw their season come to an end, falling 89-59 to the Oklahoma Sooners in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Idaho entered the game riding momentum from its Big Sky championship run and showed early composure in its return to the national stage for the first time since 2016. The Vandals kept the pace through the opening quarter, but by halftime Idaho was facing a double-digit deficit.
The V’s struggled beyond the arc, finishing 10 of 46, limiting their ability to close the gap during key stretches. Oklahoma, meanwhile shot effeciently throughout, finishing 51% from the field.
Kyra Gardner led Idaho with 19 points and Hope Hassmann added 12, the loss ends a historic season for the Vandals with a 29-6 overall record.
