SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Chiefs (34-29-1) earned another key win in the final stretch of the season with a 4-0 blanking of the Seattle Thunderbirds (27-27-5).
Owen Martin scored twice in the win, and netminder Carter Elser earned his fifth shutout of the season, he’s tied for the league’s lead.
The sixth-ranked Chiefs now have 69 points this season, just one behind the Kamloops Blazers but 12 behind fourth-place Kelowna, the lowest Western Conference seed to clinch playoffs so far.
Spokane hits the road for a game at the Tri-City Americans tomorrow. The Chiefs have four regular-season games remaining.
