SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Chiefs (32-29-1) beat the Portland Winterhawks (28-28-5), 3-2, to end a three-game March-spanning losing streak.
Spokane fought back from a scoreless first period to add two in the second, Coco Armstrong and Tyus Sparks taking the lead. Ethan Hughes broke the 2-2 tie around halfway through the third period.
The Chiefs sit in 6th place in the Western Conference with 65 points, and the top eight from each conference qualify for the postseason. Spokane has five games remaining in the regular season, and they’d need to win at least one to stay alive.
Spokane next faces the Seattle Thunderbirds, the current No. 7 seed, this Friday at 7:05 p.m.
