COLFAX, Wash – The man who led the Colfax High School basketball team for 18 years has died, just months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
The Colfax School District Superintendent posted the news Friday that Reece Jenkin has died.
Jenkin was also a husband and father and a beloved member of the Inland Northwest basketball community.
Jenkin played basketball at Reardan High School, Big Bend Community College and Whitworth University.
He was married to his wife Breanne. The couple has three children, Adrik, Allie and Ryker.
Adrik Jenkin is a standout basketball player on his dad’s Colfax team.
The team is the number one seed heading into the State B tournament.
The Bulldogs will play their first game of the tournament Friday evening at West Valley High School.
Jenkin led the team to state titles in 2012 and 2024.
“His dedication and leadership to our staff and students have left a lasting mark on our entire school community,” the superintendent said in his post Friday. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to Reece’s family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.”
Jenkin was just diagnosed with cancer in December.
A GoFundMe page to support the Jenkin family has raised more than $75,000.
Throughout the season, teams in the league have honored Jenkin and raised awareness for pancreatic cancer.
