LEAVENWORTH, Wash. — U.S. Highway 2 through Tumwater Canyon reopened at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, restoring access from Skykomish to Leavenworth for the first time since Dec. 11, 2025.
The two-month closure followed extensive flood damage.
Gov. Bob Ferguson credited Washington State Department of Transportation crews and contractors for working around the clock to reopen the highway, a month ahead of schedule.
“Highway 2 is now open, restoring cross-state access,” Ferguson said. “Thank you to everyone whose work made this possible.”
