SAN FRANCISCO — The Super Bowl Media Center drew NFL legends, media members and passionate fans who sometimes outshine the biggest stars.
The event, known as Radio Row, happens during Super Bowl week with media outlets from across the country assembled in one place. Former NFL stars like Bo Jackson, Barry Sanders and Cam Newton have appeared.
Former Seahawks player Michael Bumpus, who now hosts a sports radio show in Seattle, called it an “organized scrum.”
“It’s been great, man. You sit here, you watch Super Bowl champions and the best players in the game walk by. You see some of the national voices around here. It’s been awesome, man,” Bumpus said.
“Captain Seahawk” has attended Seahawks games for 41 years but experienced Radio Row for the first time.
“This is mind blowing. I’ve never been in the media center before. I’m going to go every time now. But it’s just outstanding,” Captain Seahawk said.
The Seahawks logo comes from Captain Seahawk’s Native American tribe. He searches for unique team merchandise.
Former Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril said fans like Captain Seahawk make Radio Row special.
“Chaos. It’s chaos. No, it’s fun. It represents what the league is all about. Everybody coming out, enjoying themselves. It’s the Super Bowl,” Avril said.
