SANTA CLARA, Ca – Patriots quarterback Drake Maye said he feels great heading into the Super Bowl against the Seahawks Sunday, but recognized the challenge they face from the NFC champions.
Maye will lead New England in his first Super Bowl.
“We face a tough challenge,” Maye told reporters Thursday at the Patriots’ last press conference before the big game. “They play really fast.”
Maye said he’s been getting advice from Super Bowl veteran Peyton Manning.
Manning told Maye to keep his rhythm and schedule the same as he would for any other game.
Maye blew off any concerns about his right shoulder, which limited his practice last week. Maye said he feels great and was having a normal week of practice.
The Patriots know they’ll face a big challenge from Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
“Obviously, they’re going to target him,” said Patriots Coach Mike Vrabel. “Rightfully so, he’s an excellent player.”
The Seahawks host their final media availability later Thursday morning.
