Spokane families had some fun at Winterfest today, with free activities at Riverfront Park meant to help students and families get out into the community.
The event was put on by Spokane Public Schools and LaunchNW, a youth support organization. It was part of the Engage in Real Life initiative, which aims to increase students’ and families’ engagement with community activities.
The event’s free offerings included skating at the Numerica Skate Ribbon, rides on the Looff Carousel, hands-on exhibits at the Mobius Discovery Center, a youth fashion show and a Q&A session with the cast of “The Lion King” musical. People could also visit booths representing various youth-focused organizations and programs.
Stella Barrett, a Spokane youth who attended the event, said she enjoyed the variety of activities – but the Mobius Discovery Center was her favorite.
“We wanted to have fun, so we came as a family,” Barrett said.
Asher, another young attendee, said the event was “amazing!”
Information on other youth activities can be found on the Engage in Real Life website.
