STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — One person was killed and two others injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on State Route 395, about three miles south of Loon Lake, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The crash was reported at 9 a.m. when a northbound vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Denette L. March of Deer Park, left the roadway to the east and struck a guardrail. The vehicle then crossed back into the westbound lane and was hit on the driver’s side by a southbound vehicle driven by 59-year-old Mark A. Susemiehl of Colville.
March was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both Susemiehl and his 65-year-old passenger, David L. Susemiehl, were transported to Mount Carmel Hospital with injuries.
All three occupants were reported wearing seatbelts.
Authorities said speed was a factor.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.
The investigation is ongoing.
