SPOKANE, Wash. — Sen. Patty Murray released a statement on the detainment of a 10-year-old and her father who were living in Spokane.
“This week the Trump administration decided to detain a hardworking roofer with a 10-year-old daughter who’s lived in America the majority of her life—a family who, as far as I know, did everything legally to be here,” Sen. Murray said. “Trump isn’t going after criminals or the “worst of the worst”, he’s deporting hardworking people who make our communities better.”

“This week the Trump administration decided to detain a hardworking roofer with a 10-year-old daughter who’s lived in America the majority of her life—a family who, as far as I know, did everything legally to be here. Trump isn’t going after criminals or the “worst of the worst”, he’s deporting hardworking people who make our communities better. My office is working to learn more about this case and while our options are always limited in scenarios like this, we will do whatever we can to help. I don’t believe this kind of cruel mass deportation agenda is what most Americans want—using our voices and our votes, we can bring sanity, decency, and due process to our immigration enforcement.”
