SPOKANE, Wash. — Washington Governor Bob Ferguson released a statement speaking up against the detainment of a 10-year-old and her father by border patrol agencies in Spokane.
“President Trump says he’s going after criminals — tell me what crime this 10-year-old committed,” Gov. Ferguson said. “Spokane has been her home since she was four while her dad sought asylum. Now she’s in a detention facility in Texas. This is wrong and un-American.”
According to Latinos en Spokane, the organization had been working with the family who they say had an active immigration case and valid documentation when they were detained.
Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown also shared opposition to the family’s detainment, stating the family has no criminal history.
